  • What are Intellectual Disabilities?

    Intellectual disabilities can be identified as the following medical diagnoses: mental retardation, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Down's syndrome, autism and the like. Individuals identified with one or more of these conditions are typically diagnosed at a young age, prior to adulthood.

What ages of individuals attend ARC Marion in Ocala, and what do they do?

ARC Marion offers services for children ages birth to 3-years-old through the Early Intervention Program (EIP). Nearly 100 children attend EIP in a given year with dozens being mainstreamed into "normal"  elementary classrooms upon completion of the EIP program.

ARC Marion primarily services clients aged 18 and older. These clients have the opportunity to participate in Adult Day Training (ADT), Supported Employment, and Supported Independent Living. ARC Marion is also home to 53 clients who live in the Residential program full-time.

The ADT program offers clients the ability to work piece-labor contracts for various local businesses.  Clients work in the ADT workshop Monday-Friday 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. They also participate in computer classes, recreational activities and arts & crafts.
